On 16 July 2026, the Ministry of Minority Affairs notified the nomination of a new Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Member to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM).

The nominations have been made under Sections 3 and 4 of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

The Government has nominated:

Harjit Singh Grewal as Chairperson;

S. Munawari Begum as Vice-Chairperson; and

Glenn E Souza Ticlo as a Member.

The appointments will will take effect from the date the nominees assume office.

The Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Member will hold office for a period of 3 years.

The nominations form part of the constitution of the National Commission for Minorities under the NCM Act, 1992.
