Call for Papers | CATALYST 3.0: Startup Law and Policy Summit 2026 by CNLU Patna

The Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Legal Entrepreneurship (CIILE) and the Startup Cell at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, are pleased to announce CATALYST 3.0 — the third edition of the flagship Startup Law and Policy Summit, scheduled for 22 August 2026 on the CNLU Campus.

Themes

Participants are invited to submit original research papers on topics relating to Banking & Finance (B&F) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). Suggested sub-themes include:

  • Bank-Financed Acquisitions and the Liberalisation of Acquisition Finance in India

  • Leveraged Buyouts, Structured Debt and Acquisition Financing in Corporate Transactions

  • Distressed Acquisitions and Resolution-Based Deal-Making under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code

  • External Commercial Borrowings (ECB), Cross-Border Capital Flows and Financing of Corporate Acquisitions

  • Regulatory Interface in Corporate Deal-Making: RBI, SEBI, CCI and MCA Oversight

  • Digital Lending, FinTech Regulation and the Evolving Architecture of Credit Markets in India

  • Private Credit, Alternative Capital Structures and the Transformation of Corporate Financing

  • Banking Governance, Risk Management and Regulatory Accountability

  • Financial Inclusion, Neo-Banking and Technology-Driven Innovation in Banking Regulation

  • Shadow Banking, NBFC Regulation and Systemic Stability in India’s Financial Sector

Note: The sub-themes are merely suggestive. Participants are free to choose any topic within Banking & Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility: Open to students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or PhD programmes at any recognised university in India.

Team Composition: Maximum of two authors per team. Cross-institutional teams are permitted.

Deadline for Registration & Payment: 15th July 2026

Full Paper: 2,500—3,000 words (exclusive of footnotes) till 20th July 2026.

Formatting:

  • Font: Times New Roman, Size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified alignment

  • Title: Times New Roman, Size 14, CAPITALS, Bold, Centre-aligned

  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, Size 10, single line spacing

  • Citation: OSCOLA 4th Edition

Originality: Only original, unpublished work is sought. Plagiarism limit: 10% (zero-tolerance policy).

AI Policy: The use of AI is strictly prohibited.

Registration Details

Registration fees:

  • Single Author: INR 800

  • Co-Authors: INR 1,500

Finalists: INR 2,000 per author (accommodation and food expenses)

Note: Registration fees are non-refundable. For cross-institutional teams with one CNLU member, the CNLU Co-Authors fee (INR 1,100) applies.

Prizes and Awards

  • Top 15 Manuscripts: Publication in an ISBN-bearing book by a National/International Publisher + Certificate of Merit

  • Top 8 Finalists: Invitation to present at CNLU Campus + Certificate of Achievement

  • Winner: INR 30,000 Cash Prize + Internship Opportunity with J. Sagar Associates (JSA) + Gold Medal + Trophy + Certificate of Achievement

  • Runner-Up: INR 20,000 Cash Prize + Internship Opportunity with J. Sagar Associates (JSA) + Silver Medal + Trophy + Certificate of Achievement
