The Bar Council of India issued a public notice updating the list of Centres of Legal Education which are prohibited from taking admissions in Law Degrees for the Academic Session 2026-27 and subsequent academic sessions until any further notice. This notice concerns the students, parents, universities, State authorities, and public.
Reason:
During surprise inspections conducted by the High-Level Surprise Inspection Team, chaired by former Judges of High Courts and comprising eminent law academicians, it was noticed that there were serious and glaring deficiencies.
The findings of this team were then examined by the High-Level Surprise Inspection Committee which was chaired by a former Chief Justice of a High Court who is also the Co- Chairman of the Legal Education Committee and the Standing Committee on Legal Education.

The above-mentioned colleges will be communicated separately, setting out the deficiencies and shortcomings found in their respective cases.
