On 25 March 2026, the Government of Punjab notified that, no charges will be levied for downloading First Information Reports (FIRs) from the Sanjh Portal, and no fee be charged for obtaining physical copies of FIRs from Sanjh Kendras.
The notification is issued by the Department of Good Governance and Information Technology in continuation of earlier notifications issued in October and November 20251 and in response to strong opposition from lawyers challenging the decision of charging for FIR copies.
It further states that the earlier service charge of ₹80 for this service has been withdrawn with immediate effect, making FIRs available free of cost to the public through both online and offline platforms.
