About the Organisers
The Department of Law, Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur, is a NAAC A+ accredited institution committed to advancing interdisciplinary legal education and research. Since its inception in 2013, the Department has emphasized innovative pedagogy, academic excellence, and research-driven legal scholarship in areas such as constitutional law, criminal law, and intellectual property law. The Department fosters diversity of thought, inclusivity, and professional competence, preparing students for careers in litigation, judiciary, civil services, academia, and entrepreneurship.
The Competition is organised in collaboration with the Ranka Public Charitable Trust, established in 1980 by Late Dr. N. M. Ranka, Senior Advocate. The Trust promotes Gandhian philosophy, legal awareness, education, and philanthropy. It has pioneered moot court competitions in Jaipur and has organized over 20 national-level competitions in collaboration with reputed institutions.
Details of the Event
The 5th VGU—Ranka Moot Court Competition, 2026 will be held from 10th – 12th April 2026 at VGU, Jaipur.
The moot proposition revolves around a constitutional challenge concerning military infrastructure development in ecologically sensitive regions, raising critical questions on:

National security vs. environmental protection

Sustainable development principles

Scope of fundamental rights under Articles 14, 19 & 21

Validity of restrictions on protests

Applicability of environmental laws to defence projects

The official language of the competition is English.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to:
-
Students enrolled in 5-year integrated law programmes, and
-
Students enrolled in 3-year LL.B. programmes,
from any University/College/Department recognised by the Bar Council of India.
Each team shall consist of 2 or 3 members (2 Speakers + 1 Researcher, or 1 Speaker + 1 Researcher).

Upon successful registration and payment, teams will receive a Team Code via email.

Memorial Submission:
○ Soft Copy Deadline: 3rd April 2026 (via email to info.moot@vgu.ac.in)
○ Hard Copy Submission: 9th April 2026 (at the time of registration)
Memorials must comply with Bluebook (20th Edition) citation format and prescribed formatting guidelines.
