The Faculty of Law functions as a distinguished constituent of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), an institution founded in 1916 by the visionary Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. About the Competition
The Faculty of Law, BHU, is delighted to announce the 13th Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition 2026, scheduled from 13th to 15th March 2026, in physical mode.
This flagship event seeks to bring together bright legal minds from across India to engage with contemporary legal issues, refine their advocacy skills, and compete in a spirit of academic rigor and professional camaraderie. Named in honor of the visionary founder of BHU, the competition continues its legacy of promoting excellence, ethics, and eloquence in legal practice.
Eligibility
The competition is open to bona fide students enrolled in a full-time three-year LL.B. programme or a full-time five-year integrated law programme from any University/College/Institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Venue
The Competition will take place at the Law School (Faculty of Law), Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh — 221005
Registration Process
Interested teams are required to fill out the Registration Form available in the official competition brochure. The duly filled form must be submitted on or before 26th January 2026, 11:59 PM (IST). On submission of the form, the teams will be intimated via mail about the payment mode for the completion of their provisional registration. Submission of form followed by the payment shall be treated as the completion of provisional registration.
Teams qualifying for the Oral Rounds based on memorial evaluation shall be required to complete final registration by paying a further fee for accommodation and food, details of which are provided in the competition brochure.

Winning Team: Cash Prize of ₹40,000
Runners-Up Team: Cash Prize of ₹30,000
Best Speaker: Cash Prize of ₹10,000
Best Researcher: Cash Prize of ₹10,000
Best Memorial: Cash Prize of ₹10,000
All participating teams shall be awarded Certificates of Participation, along with access to the SCC Online Web Edition.
