HPNLU, Shimla announces the acceptance of the request by Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Former Chief Justice of India, to be the Distinguished Professor at HPNLU, Shimla. Justice Sanjiv Khanna shares a longstanding and distinguished relationship with the University, having previously served as its Visitor. His association has been marked by deep commitment to the cause of legal education and institutional growth. His consent to serve in this prestigious capacity is a matter of great academic significance and pride for the entire HPNLU community. This request was made by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla which Lordship has graciously accepted.
Justice Sanjiv Khanna, the 51st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, retired from the apex court on 13th May, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by judicial erudition, administrative excellence, and unwavering commitment to justice. Elevated to the Supreme Court of India on 18th January, 2019, Justice Khanna held several prominent positions during his illustrious tenure.
With the wealth of knowledge, vast judicial experience, and unwavering integrity that Justice Khanna brings, HPNLU is poised to enter a new era of academic excellence and research leadership. As Distinguished Professor, his presence is expected to immensely enrich the intellectual environment of the University and inspire generations of legal scholars and practitioners.
