On 30-5-2025, the Supreme Court inducted 3 new Judges in their midst- Justice N.V. Anjaria, Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice A.S. Chandurkar. The 3 new Judges of the Supreme Court of India were administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai.
The names of the afore-stated Judges for elevation to the Supreme Court was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on 26-5-2025 and in a display of speedy action i.e. in 3 days’ time, the Ministry of Law and Justice confirmed the recommended names on 29-5-2025.

Justice Nilay Vipinchandra Anjaria
Born on 23-03-1965 in the picturesque district of Mandvi-Kutch, Gujarat, Justice N.V. Anjaria was no stranger to law as he hailed from family of lawyers and Judges (Justice Anjaria’s father was also in judiciary). Justice NV Anjaria graduated from H.L. College of Commerce, and he obtained his LL. B degree from Sir L.A. Shah Law College in 1988. Further on Justice Anjaria obtained Master’s degree in Law in 1989 from University School of Law, Ahmedabad.
After obtaining his law degree, Justice Anjaria started his practice in the High Court of Gujarat from August 1988 by joining chamber of celebrated Senior Advocate, Late S.N. Shelat. During his time as a practising counsel, Justice Anjaria conducted matters involving constitutional issues and all categories of civil cases, labour and service. He was also appointed as Standing Counsel / Panel Advocate for High Court and subordinate Courts, State Election Commission, Gujarat Information Commission, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, Municipalities, etc. Furthermore, Justice Anjaria was also a Trained Mediator in the Gujarat High Court Mediation Centre.
After serving the High Court with his legal expertise as an advocate for 23 years, Justice N.V. Anjaria was elevated as Additional Judge, High Court of Gujarat on 21-11-2011 and was confirmed as Permanent Judge on 06-09-2013. He continued to serve his parent High Court in the capacity of a Judge and his competency, impeccable integrity and knowledge in law was rewarded furthermore when the Supreme Court Collegium considered and recommended his name for the post of Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, which was duly accepted by the Ministry of Law and Justice and notified his appointment for the post by the President of India. Upon the retirement of Justice P.S. Dinesh Kumar, Justice Anjaria was then sworn in as the 34th Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on 25-02-2024.

Justice Vijay Bishnoi
Born on 26-03-1964, Justice Vijay Bishnoi embarked on a journey marked by dedication and academic pursuit. His educational voyage culminated in the attainment of an LL.B. degree, thereby laying the foundation for a remarkable career in law.
Having enrolled in the legal profession on 08-07-1989 and subsequently ascending to higher echelons of judiciary on 08-01-2013, Justice Vijay Bishnoi traversed a commendable trajectory in the corridors of justice. As an advocate, Justice Bishnoi specialised in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Election Law, and his journey prior to elevation as Judge was marked by multifaceted roles and commendable accomplishments. He served as Counsel for a myriad of esteemed entities including government departments such as Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Stamps & Registration, Co-operative, Labour, Transport, and Excise Departments. Justice Bishnoi’s expertise extended to representing notable bodies like the National Highway Authority of India Limited (NHAI), Rajasthan State Electricity Board, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
The Supreme Court Collegium vide resolution dated 27-12-20233 recommended Justice Vijay Bishnoi as the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court and he was sworn in on 05-02-2024.

Justice Atul Sharachchandra Chandurkar1
Born on 7-4-1965, Justice A.S. Chandurkar completed schooling at St. Vincents’ High School, Pune and graduated from Ness Wadia College, Pune and from I. L. S. Law College, Pune.
After obtaining Law Degree, Justice Chandurkar joined the Bar on 21-7-1988 and commenced practise in the Chambers of B. N. Naik, Sr. Advocate, Mumbai who was later elevated to the Bench.
Subsequently, Justice Chandurkar shifted to Nagpur in 1992 and practised in various Courts where he handled matters of various nature. Justice Chandurkar has even authored two books on The Maharashtra Municipal Council Nagar Panchayats & Industrial Townships Act, 1965 and The Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999.
Subsequently, he was elevated as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 21-6-2013.
