Meditab Specialities Supreme Court settlement

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (SAM) represented Meditab Specialities Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cipla Ltd., in connection with a long-standing dispute concerning allotment of land in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Goa. The matter was settled before the Supreme Court of India on August 29, 2025. The amount of the deal was INR 33 crore.

Meditab had originally been allotted land by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) for development within an SEZ. However, this allotment, along with others, was struck down by the Hon’ble Bombay High Court at Goa in 2010. Meditab challenged the ruling before the Supreme Court, where the matter remained under consideration for several years.

The transaction team was led by Manu Nair, Partner; Neelabh Shreesh, Principal Associate; Simran Malhotra, Associate and Aryan Roy, Associate.
