In his first meeting as head of the Collegium, CJI B.R. Gavai recommended the elevation of 2 High Court Chief Justices and 1 High Court Judge to the Supreme Court.
Justice K. Vinod Chandran was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Kerala on 8-11-2011 and was elevated as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Patna on 29-3-2023.
The Court was hearing a PIL seeking directions for the Union Government clear the Collegium recommendations. The Court is also due to hear a contempt petition filed by State of Jharkhand vis-a-vis delay in clearing the transfer of Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, for appointment as next Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
