NLIU JSA Labour Law Certificate Course 2026

ABOUT THE COURSE

This two-day intensive programme offers participants an opportunity to engage with contemporary developments in labour and employment law through a comprehensive curriculum designed to address the transition to India’s New Labour Codes. The course will explore critical themes, including the constitutional foundations of labour law, the impact of AI on the workplace and the practicalities of ancillary frameworks such as the Apprentices Act and Shops & Establishments Acts.

The sessions will be conducted by distinguished practitioners from J. Sagar Associates:

  • Gerald (Jerry) Manoharan, Equity Partner: A versatile legal expert with over 23 years of experience, recognized as a “Key Lawyer” by Legal 500 and a leading voice on workforce restructuring and POSH compliance.

  • Lijin Varughese, Associate: A specialist in the Employment, Labour & Benefits practice, known for his expertise in navigating the New Labour Codes and advising on high-stakes M&A transactions.

COURSE OUTLINE

Day 1:

Session I: Constitutional Foundations & Statutory Labour Codes — examining the four Labour Codes (2019-2020) and their constitutional basis.

Session II: Digital Transformation & Contractual Frameworks — analysing AI in recruitment, workplace surveillance, and restrictive covenants.

Day 2:

Session III: Impact of New Labour Codes — evaluating the shift from a worker-centric to a compliance-centric approach.

Session IV: Ancillary Labour Frameworks — focusing on the Shops and Establishments Acts and the Apprentices Act.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION

The course is open to law students currently in their second year or above of a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) or equivalent integrated programme.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Interested candidates must submit their Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a Statement of Purpose (SOP) through the registration link. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on 11th March 2026 and must complete their final registration by paying the course fee of ₹5,200/- to secure their place.
