ABOUT ORGANISATION

CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi, NCR Campus, a premier educational institution, is an academic fraternity of individuals dedicated to the motto of Excellence and Service. The University is a nurturing ground for individual holistic development to effectively contribute to society in a dynamic environment. It was established as a college in July 1969 by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), founded by Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara. It was conferred the Deemed University status in 2008 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has five campuses, three in Bengaluru, one in Pune and Delhi NCR (off campuses). Ranked as one of India’s top and reputed multi-disciplinary universities, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore has been placed between 401- 600 globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2020. As per the latest NIRF 2023 rankings, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) enters the list of top 100 universities in India and grabs the 67th position. The School of Law has secured the 16th position in the Law category, retaining itself in the top 20s. According to QS Rankings, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) ranks in the 601-650 band amongst top Asian universities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Annual Trial Advocacy Competition, 2025 is an academic initiative aimed at cultivating, enhancing, and celebrating the trial advocacy skills of law students. This competition is designed to simulate real-life criminal trial court proceedings, thereby equipping participants with practical exposure to courtroom dynamics, evidentiary procedures, and strategic argumentation. The objective is to foster a spirit of professionalism, precision, and competitiveness while nurturing the legal acumen and ethical values expected of future criminal law practitioners.

THEME

In pursuit of excellence in legal education and the advancement of practical advocacy skills, we proudly present the Annual Trial Advocacy Competition, 2025. This distinguished forum stands as a testament to the vital role of experiential learning in the formation of capable, ethical, and dynamic criminal law practitioners. Rooted in the principles of justice, integrity, and professional rigor, the competition seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical study and courtroom practice. By simulating authentic criminal trial proceedings, this competition offers aspiring advocates a unique platform to engage with the complexities of evidentiary rules, courtroom decorum, and strategic litigation. It fosters not only a spirit of healthy competition but also cultivates the discipline, analytical precision, and ethical commitment fundamental to the legal profession.

ELIGIBILITY

The Competition is open exclusively to bona fide students enrolled in either a three-year or five-year integrated undergraduate programme in law at any recognized institution or university.

REGISTRATION FEE

Participation in the Competition shall be contingent upon successful registration in the Memorial Qualification Round, for which a compulsory and non-refundable fee of INR 700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred Only) per team shall be payable at the time of initial registration.

Upon completion of the Memorial Qualification Round, teams duly shortlisted for the Main Advocacy Rounds shall be required to remit the prescribed registration fee as follows:

  1. Without Accommodation: ₹4,500 (Rupees Four Thousand and Five Hundred Only) per team.

  2. With Accommodation: ₹6,000 (Rupees Six Thousand Only) per team.

No team shall be deemed to have been registered for the Main Advocacy Rounds unless and until the applicable fee has been received and acknowledged by the organising committee.

Last Date for Registration (Memorial Qualification Round): 11th September 2025

Last Date for Memorial Submission: 16th September 2025

Last Date for Final Registration: 20th September 2025

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Mode of Registration

Registration shall be affected per team, and only one designated member shall be authorized to register on behalf of the entire team.

The registration process shall be deemed complete only upon receipt of the prescribed registration fee and confirmation thereof by the organizing committee.

Memorial Qualification Round

Upon completion of the Memorial Qualification Round, the teams duly shortlisted for the Main Advocacy Rounds shall be called for the Oral Pleading Rounds.
