The Centre for Training and Research in Commercial Regulations (CTRCR) was established at MNLU Mumbai with the vision to encourage and promote discussion, training, and research in the fields of commercial and economic law. The Centre brings together academicians, professionals, industry experts, regulators, judges, and students to deliberate on contemporary challenges and changes in the business environment—both domestic and global. Through scholarly engagement and collaborative learning, CTRCR aims to contribute significantly to commercial law and regulatory policy discourse.

Event Details

The National Article Writing Competition and Workshop on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) has been designed to cultivate deep academic inquiry and practical understanding of India’s insolvency regime. This event provides a platform for law students to critically analyze IBC-related legal issues, propose innovative reforms, and gain real-world exposure through a structured workshop featuring leading experts in the field.

Workshop Details

An Online Workshop on IBC will be held on 10th August 2025 and is open to both students and legal professionals. It will offer focused discussions on recent amendments, landmark judgments, and practical aspects of the Code. The sessions will be led by distinguished insolvency professionals, practitioners, and legal scholars. Workshop participants will gain a well-rounded view of current insolvency practice and policy.

Themes for the Article Writing Competition

(Participants may choose from the following non-exhaustive themes):

  1. Interfacing the IBC with Sectoral Laws — RERA, PMLA, Competition Act, etc.
  2. Dissenting Creditors in CIRP — Challenges and Solutions
  3. Transparency and Professional Standards — IBBI Amendments, 2025
  4. The Aircraft Objects Act, 2025 and its interface with IBC
  5. Commercial Wisdom vs. Judicial Review
  6. Asset-wise Resolution under the IBC — A New Implementation Model

Eligibility

  • Open to all undergraduate law students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes from recognized institutions in India.
  • Legal professionals and postgraduate students are welcome to attend the workshop but are not eligible to submit articles for the competition.

    • Single Author: ₹300
    • Co-Author (max 2): ₹500

Online Workshop

  • Workshop Fee: ₹200 (Free for competition participants)

Submission Guidelines

  • Word limit: 2500—3500 words (excluding footnotes)
  • Abstract: 150—200 words
  • Format: .doc/.docx (no PDFs)
  • Citations: Bluebook 21st ed. (footnotes only)
  • No identifying information in the document body
  • Submissions with more than 15% plagiarism (excluding citations) will be disqualified
  • Use of AI tools beyond grammar checking is strictly prohibited

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Garamond, Size 12 (text), Size 10 (footnotes)
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 (text), Single (footnotes)
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Margin: 1 inch on all sides

Prizes

  • Top 2 Entries: Internship at Insolvency Law Academy
  • Top 5 Entries: Publication in the Journal on Corporate Law and Commercial Regulations (subject to editorial review)
  • Top 10 Entries: Certificate of Merit
  • All Valid Submissions: Certificate of Participation
  • The winner (highest-ranked participant) will receive a free pass/waiver of registration fees to attend the upcoming ILA 4th Annual Conference, scheduled from 24th to 26th January, 2026.
