On 22-12-2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare issued a notification making Aadhaar authentication mandatory for availing benefits under the National Mission on Natural Farming (‘NMNF’).
This Notification came into effect on 23-12-2025.
Key provisions of Aadhar authentication for NMNF:
-
Ministry mandates Aadhaar authentication beneficiaries under the NMNF scheme to ensure transparency, efficiency, and seamless delivery of financial assistance to farmers practicing natural farming.
-
Farmers seeking benefits under NMNF will be required to undergo Aadhaar authentication or furnish proof of Aadhaar possession.
-
Those without Aadhaar will have to apply for enrolment. Until Aadhaar is issued, identity can be established using the enrolment acknowledgment (EID) and any valid photo ID such as Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, Ration Card, etc.
-
Financial assistance of ₹4,000 per acre per year for two years will be provided to trained and enrolled farmers practicing natural farming.
-
The expenditure for this scheme will be met from the Consolidated Fund of India.
-
State Governments and Union Territories will ensure Aadhaar enrolment and updates through dedicated centres or by becoming Registrars themselves.
-
Wide publicity will be given to inform beneficiaries about Aadhaar requirements.
-
If biometric authentication fails, alternatives like OTP-based authentication or offline verification using Aadhaar QR code or e-KYC will be offered.
-
Exception handling mechanisms will ensure genuine beneficiaries are not deprived of benefits.
-
These Provisions will apply to all States and Union Territories except:
-
Sikkim,
