On 4-9-2025, the President of India in exercise of powers under Article 217 of the Constitution, appointed Justice Shree Chandrashekhar as the next Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, who was functioning as the High Court’s Acting Chief Justice, will succeed Justice Alok Aradhe, who was elevated as Judge of Supreme Court.
On 25-8-2025, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by CJI B.R. Gavai, recommended the name of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.
Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, whose parent High Court is Jharkhand, was appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi on 17-01-2013 and, as Permanent Judge on 27-06-2014. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand with effect from 29-12-2023. Thereafter he was transferred to Rajasthan High Court and then to Bombay High Court in July 2025.
