“The Constitution is a living document. We can’t bind the future generations to stick up to the Constitution that we are adopting today, and the future generations should have an opportunity to amend the Constitution, so as to adapt to the societal economic changes that the future generations would come across.”
The session was hosted by Gourab Banerji, Senior Advocate, and featured the Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai; Lord Leggatt, UK Supreme Court; Justice Vikram Nath, Supreme Court of India; and Baroness Sue Carr, Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales.
The Supreme Court Advocates-On-Record Association (‘SCAORA’) requested Justice Gavai to consider its requests to alleviate the difficulties faced by the bar members and enable them to contribute to the efficient functioning of the Supreme Court.
