The Journal of Indian Law and Society (JILS) reflects NUJS’s tradition of promoting high-quality, interdisciplinary legal scholarship. The Journal provides a platform for students, academics, and practitioners to engage with contemporary legal developments. Through its publications and initiatives, JILS aims to foster rigorous research, thoughtful discourse, and a deeper understanding of law’s role in shaping society.

About the Blog

The JILS Blog welcomes contributions that engage with pressing and contemporary issues in law. Submissions should be academically grounded, offering clear insights, thoughtful analysis, and fresh perspectives on interdisciplinarity legal developments in India.

Contributions may take various forms, including case comments, analytical articles, responses to existing arguments, or reflective pieces that critically examine recent trends. The Blog seeks work that meaningfully contributes to ongoing legal debates and enriches broader academic and policy discourse.

Sub-Themes for the Blog

An indicative list of sub-themes include

Please note that this list is only indicative, and authors are welcome to engage with any topic of contemporary relevance to law, policy, and interdisciplinary legal studies.

Submission Guidelines

  • Word Limit: All the blog submissions should be in the range of the word count of 1500-2500 words, exclusive of footnotes. Speaking footnotes are not accepted. Please follow the OSCOLA style of citation. The word limit may be relaxed in exceptional cases.

  • Form of Submission: Submissions must be in electronic form. All submissions must be word-processed, single-spaced in Garamond, font size 12 and justified.

  • Citations: Only footnotes may be used as the form of citations. End notes or hyperlinks shall not be accepted. All footnotes must be in Garamond, size 10, single-spacing and justified. The citations must be in the format derived from the OSCOLA citation guide.

Note: Any blog published on the JILS Blog website may be published on another forum only after giving due credits and reference to the publication at JILS Blog. Such re-publication on another forum must duly mention JILS as the original forum of publication at the beginning.
