In Dheeraj Mor v. High Court of Delhi, (2020) 7 SCC 401 it was held that the members of the Judicial Service of a State could be appointed as District Judges either by way of promotion or via Limited Departmental Competitive Examination.

Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma allowed the intra court appeal and directed to appoint the petitioner- candidate, whereas Justice Meenakshi I. Mehta dismissed the plea.
“Live-in-relationship is an agreement in which two persons live together in a short or long term relationship. The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 does not recognise the concept of live-in-relationship. Even in Muslim Law, no recognition has been given to such relationship.”
The Court asserted that Judicial discipline requires coordinate benches to follow earlier decisions or refer the matter to a larger bench if there is disagreement.
