School of Agriculture Law and Economics (SALE)
The School of Agricultural Law and Economics (SALE) at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, is a centre of excellence that fosters interdisciplinary research and discourse at the interface of law, economics, and agriculture. The objectives of SALE are varied and include conducting research on agricultural law and economics, promoting awareness of legal and economic issues in agriculture, organizing academic events on agricultural law and policy, and collaborating with institutions to advise on agrarian policy issues.
About The Event
This workshop aims to sensitise the participants regarding the intersection of legal systems and economic efficiency by exploring how economic principles shape legal decision-making, resource allocation, innovation, rights, and justice. It examines the relationship of economics with diverse areas of law, including contract, property, insolvency, and intellectual property law. Designed for participants from legal, economic, policy, and academic backgrounds, the workshop provides a structured and in-depth introduction to the core principles and complex interactions between law and economics. The workshop is designed around the basic areas of law which will help in understanding how economic reasoning and application of economics tools will influence legal framework, shape the markets, and transform policy outcomes.

(Dr.) Ranita Nagar is Professor of Economics and Head of the Centre for Law and Economics at Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. With over twenty-one years of academic and research experience, she has been instrumental in institutionalizing the discipline of Law and Economics in India.
Dr. Hiteshkumar Thakkar
Dr. Hiteshkumar Thakkar is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Gujarat National Law University and Faculty Editor of the Scopus-indexed GNLU Journal of Law and Economics. With 15+ years’ UG teaching and 4+ years’ PG teaching, he supervises Ph.D. scholars and leads ICSSR- funded projects on disability-inclusive finance and accessible banking.
Dr. Seema Shrivastava
Dr. Seema Shrivastava is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Chairperson of the Centre for Law and Economics at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. With over 15 years of teaching and research experience, she specializes in law and economics, public policy, regional development, and gender budgeting. A Ph.D. in Economics, she has published extensively in peer-reviewed and UGC CARE-listed journals.
Dr. Shivani Mohan
Dr. Shivani Mohan is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Head, Centre for Law and Economics at Chanakya National Law University, Patna, with over 17 years of teaching experience since 2007. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Science with Law from National Law University, Patna, and her research focuses on Law and Economics, Development Economics, and Macroeconomics.
Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha S Pai
Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha S. Pai is Chairperson of the Department of Commerce and Economics and Assistant Professor at PES University, Bengaluru. With over eight years of teaching experience, including at MIT World Peace University and Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, her work focuses on economics, commerce, and management education.
