Former Judge and Senior Advocate Dr. S. Muralidhar appointed as Chair for UN Commission of Inquiry on Occupied Palestinian Territory

On 27-11-2025, the President of the UN Human Rights Council appointed Former Chief Justice of Orissa High Court and Senior Advocate Dr. S. Muralidhar as the Chair of the three-person body of the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel.

The Court found that the local population in the Gaza Strip has been inadequately supplied within the meaning of Article 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. In such a situation, Israel, as the occupying Power, is under an obligation to agree to and facilitate relief schemes.
