On 16-6-2025, the Union Territory of Puducherry notified the eSakshya Management Rules, 2025 to establish a digital framework for collecting and authenticating evidence via eSakshya mobile app, now mandatory for Investigating Officers to record evidence under key sections of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. Evidence will be bundled into secure “eSakshya Packets” with unique IDs, timestamps, and geolocation. These are digitally signed, linked to FIRs, and stored immutably. The Courts will manage, review, and share such evidence on the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System platform, extending access to accused and victims’ advocates, align with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, and IT Act.
