The Centre for Law, Justice and Development (CLJD), National Law University Delhi in association with the Research Group on Law and Development, University of Antwerp, Belgium is pleased to announce a week-long International Workshop on Law, Development and Sustainability from 29th August — 3rd September 2022. Workshop is being carried under the under the scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration, Government of India.

The workshop offers an opportunity to better understand and engage with the discourse on law and development, human rights-based approach to development, international initiatives with respect to defining and operationalizing the right to development, the approach to development informing SDGs and the current debates pertaining to the same. Apart from offering a sound theoretical understanding of law and development discourse and developments at the international level, the workshop seeks to engage with critical intersections such as gender, rights of the marginalized, tribal rights, labour rights and development. The resource persons for this workshop include Prof. Koen De Feyter and Prof. Wouter Vandenhole both from the University of Antwerp, Belgium and highly acclaimed scholars from India

About the Centre:

As a research centre under the aegis of a university that believes in imparting interdisciplinary legal education, Centre for Law Justice and Development engages with issues that meet at the confluence of legal and development discourses. It seeks to analyse, revisit and critique the existing socio-legal structures to enable alternative interpretations and implementation of law in development. Such an engagement is envisaged to be more inclusive to march towards securing justice for all. Through the various projects and events that CLJD is undertaking and has organized, it ensures that it has a wide array of activities, spanning across field work, doctrinal research, capacity building and literacy programmes.

Who should register:

The workshop is aimed at early career faculty and research scholars working in the area of sustainable development and is designed to augment the research and teaching capabilities of the participants. It would be conducted by experts from Belgium and India, offering a unique immersive learning experience aimed at providing learners with deeper reflections on sustainability issues and challenges.

Fee for the course: 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only). Payment once made shall NOT be refunded

Mode of the Workshop: The workshop will be conducted online, link for which shall be shared closer to the date.
