NUJS 2nd Legislation Drafting Competition, 2015

Reported by Apoorv Aggarwal

The National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata introduced the National Legislation Drafting Competition in the year 2014. During this event they permitted in house students of the WBNUJS to participate and saw an overwhelming response. The response led to awards being given at the DD Basu Endowment Lecture held on a yearly basis and is a feat for the Constitutional Law Society. The Society is proud to have this event now open to other Universities after a successful trial. Last year’s topic was the Refugee Legislation.  The Constitutional Law Society has been an active body of the Student Juridical Association and is directly under the supervision of the Institution’s Vice Chancellor Professor Ishwara Bhatt. Whereas this year the attempt is rather unique as the society tries to combine Privacy laws, Information Technology Law and rather obvious the law governing the Constitution-Constitutional law. The Topic of this year’s Second Legislative Drafting Competition is ‘Invasion of Privacy of Newsworthy Persons by the Media in light of Compelling Public Interest‘.
