The Central Government has proposed to introduce the Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021 in the upcoming winter session from November 29th, 2021.

As per the announcement the Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021 shall seek to create a facilitative framework for creation of the official digital currency to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India. The Bill shall also prohibit all private cryptocurrencies in India, however, it may allow for certain exceptions to promote the underlying technology of cryptocurrency and its uses.
