Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI): In a press release dated 23 April 2025, the CBI announced the arrest of a Reader to ASJ-02, at Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.
Background
The case was registered on 23 April 2026 following a complaint alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000 from the complainant to facilitate the allowance of the bail application of her client.
Investigation and trap proceedings
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on the same day and apprehended the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs. 20,000 as part payment of the total bribe amount from the complainants. The accused has been arrested.
Further developments
Further investigation has been initiated by the CBI, and they also reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against corruption and encouraged citizens to report instances of bribery or misconduct by public officials.
