Anti-ragging Week

In accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the University of Lucknow organised the Anti-Ragging Week from 12th August to 18th August, 2025 in its campus with the objective of fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment for all students. Organised by Anti- Ragging Cell, Office of the Proctor, University of Lucknow, this initiative rose awareness about the detrimental effects of ragging, reinforce the university’s zero-tolerance policy towards such practices, and promote values of dignity, empathy, and mutual respect.

Throughout the week, a series of awareness activities, interactive sessions, and sensitisation programmes were conducted. These included lectures by eminent legal experts, counsellors, and faculty members highlighting the legal provisions against ragging, along with the penalties and disciplinary actions for violations. Real-life case studies were shared to help students understand the seriousness of the offence and its lasting psychological impact on victims.

The campaign also featured poster-making competitions, street plays, and pledge-taking ceremonies where students committed to maintaining a ragging-free campus. Anti-ragging awareness corners were set up across the university, displaying helpline numbers, grievance redressal mechanisms, and contact details of the Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad.

The Vice-Chancellor, faculty, and student representatives actively participated in these events to reaffirm the university’s commitment to student welfare. The university administration urges all students to become active partners in eradicating ragging, reporting any incidents promptly, and supporting peers in distress.

By observing Anti-Ragging Week, the University of Lucknow sought to strengthen a culture of trust, safety, and equality, ensuring that every student’s journey in higher education is free from fear and harassment, and rich in learning, friendship, and personal growth.
