Andhra Pradesh High Court: In a plea against Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court order remanding former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to 14 days judicial custody, the K. Suresh Reddy, J. stayed all court proceedings against him till 18-09-2023 in State Crime Investigation Department’s (‘CID’) custody plea connected to Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Program scam involving multi-crore corruption. The Court further directed CID not to take Naidu in custody till the same date.
The said orders cropped up after the Special Court at Vijayawada sent Chandrababu Naidu to 14 days judicial custody with finding of prima facie case against him involving charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery and corruption in Skill Development Program scam.
While the case against Naidu alleged of him having played a crucial role in the scam while serving as the Chief Minister of the State, accused of diverting government funds intended for a skill development project, Naidu pleaded that the Trial Court’s order was passed without considering CID’s failure to obtain prior approval from Governor as required under Section 17A of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The instant matter will next be considered on 5-12-2023.
