Delh High Court: As reported by ANI, the Delhi High Court has issued notice on a public interest litigation seeking to quash the imposition of 12% GST on Sanitary Napkins, and declaring the same to be liable to a ‘nil’ rate or a reduced rate of tax. The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar issued notice in the PIL filed by Zarmina Israr Khan. The petitioner praying for directions to either quash or reduce the levy of 12% GST, submitted that in the 21st century, the right to access and use sanitary napkins is a fundamental human and constitutional right of all women.
