On 20-1-2026, the Recruitment Cell of the Supreme Court notified the online application process for engaging Law Clerk-cum-Research Associates on short-term contractual assignment in the Supreme Court.

Law Clerks-cum-Research Associates will be on short-term contractual assignment, with an initial remuneration of ₹1,00,000 per month for the 2026—2027 term.
Applications are invited for a panel of approximately 90 candidates under Scheme of Engaging Law Clerk-cum Research Associates on Short-Term Contractual Assignment in the Supreme Court of India-January, 2024.
Essential Qualifications:

Passed Law Graduate having a bachelor’s degree in law from an institution recognized by the Bar Council of India

Final-year students (3-year / 5-year law courses) can apply, after producing proof of degree before joining

Should possess strong analytical, research, and writing skills
-
Knowledge of legal research tools: SCC Online, e-SCR, Manupatra, LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.

Age should be 20-32 years as on 7-2-2026.
Selection Process

Three-phase evaluation:

Part I: MCQ Test (online)

Part II: Subjective Written Test (pen-paper mode; questions on screen)

Part III: Interview

Test Centres
Candidates are given an option to choose from 23 cities for test centres and both MCQ and subjective test will we conducted on same dates.

Additional Instructions for Candidates:

Candidates will have to ensure that they meet all eligibility conditions. Any false information will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Issuance of Admit Card does not guarantee selection.

Candidate should upload a recent photograph and signature as instructed. Applications will not be edited or withdrawn after submission.

Enter all details carefully, make the online fee payment, and save/print the submitted application with the Application Number.

Retain the Application Number for download of admit card, interview updates, and all future communication via the official link.

Only the latest application submitted will be considered and the application fee is non-refundable.

Applications that do not comply with instructions will be summarily rejected.

If large number of candidates score 60% in Part I, Part II will be evaluated in a 1:10 ratio, and interviews will follow a 1:3 ratio.

There is negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect answer.

Any unfair means will lead to disqualification and may invite legal action.

Helpline numbers provided on the website may be used for technical or other queries.

PwD candidates may avail a scribe (not a law graduate) with required certification and only the scribe is allowed inside the exam hall.

Law Clerks can be posted at any office/registry/chamber/residential office based on administrative needs.

Final engagement is subject to verification of certificates and completion of all required formalities.

The Registry can modify or cancel the selection process without notice, and jurisdiction lies in Delhi.

Candidates may be required to work on holidays or odd hours.

The candidates will not be provided Travelling Allowance or Daily Allowance for appearing in the Written Test.
