Civil Aviation Ministry directs DGCA to monitor festive airfares; 1762 flights added to meet demand

Directorate General of Civil Aviation festive airfare monitoring

On 5-10-2025, the Ministry of Civil Aviation mandated the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to keep a watch on airfares, especially during the festive season and take appropriate measures in case of surge in prices.

Step taken by Directorate General of Civil Aviation:

To meet the high demands, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation asked the airlines to increase the flight capacities for the festive season by deploying additional flights.

Response of airlines: Airlines informed that they are adding the following additional flights:

  1. IndiGo- 730 additional flights across 42 sectors;

  2. Air India & Air India Express- 486 additional flights across 20 sectors;

  3. SpiceJet- 546 additional flights across 38 sectors.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will be keeping a check on airline fares and flight capacities to protect passengers’ interests during festive season.
