Mumbai | March 19, 2026: Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (SAM) will host a roundtable titled “Technology Governance: Does the Internet remain without boundaries in a changing world order?” at its Mumbai office in Express Towers, Nariman Point. The discussion will bring together voices from industry, academia, civil society, and the legal fraternity to examine how evolving global regulatory approaches are shaping the future of the Internet and digital technologies.
As governments across the world advance regulatory frameworks around artificial intelligence, online safety, data protection and information access, the governance of digital technologies is increasingly intersecting with questions of national interests, sovereignty, and international relations. In this backdrop, the roundtable will open with a keynote address by Justice (Retd.) Gautam Patel on the impact of the changing world order on the Internet, followed by a moderated discussion on the opportunities and risks of a borderless Internet over the past three decades and the evolution of technology governance.
Participants will also deliberate on key global developments influencing technology governance, including emerging frameworks for artificial intelligence and the role of multilateral institutions in shaping technology policy. The discussion will conclude with deliberations on how governments and businesses can navigate compliance, innovation, and regulatory priorities in an increasingly complex new world order and interaction with attendees.
