NLUJA, Assam introduces Menstrual Leave Policy

NLUJA, Assam has taken a progressive step towards inclusivity and well-being by introducing ‘Menstrual Leave’ for its students. This initiative was spearheaded by the Student Welfare Committee, to ensure access to education while taking care of one’s menstrual health.

The Menstrual Leave Policy proposed by the Students was approved by the administration of NLUJA, Assam on 3rd November, 2023. As per this Policy, the menstruating students of the University will be eligible to apply for menstrual leave without any requirement of proof from the Medical Officer by way of self declaration. This policy can be availed from the ongoing academic semester.

This initiative aims to support the health and well-being of the students, acknowledging the unique needs and challenges they might face during menstruation. NLUJA remains committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment.

Menstrual Leave Application

A student must submit the application in the prescribed format via email (stdmedleave@nluassam.ac.in) by 8 p.m. on the day on which they miss the class.
