Ms Indu Malhotra, first woman advocate to be directly appointed as Supreme Court Judge, sworn in

Senior Advocate Ms Indu Malhotra was sworn in as a Judge of the Supreme Court today. Chief Justice Dipak Misra administered the oath of office in the presence of the other Judges. She is the first woman advocate to be directly appointed as a SC Judge. As a prominent Senior Advocate, she has dealt with several matters of constitutional importance, and was one of the members of the Vishakha Committee on Sexual Harassment at Workplace. 
Notification

The President in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, appointed Ms. Indu Malhotra, to be a Judge of the Supreme Court of India with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office.
