Rajiv Mehrishi takes over as Comptroller and Auditor General of India

Shri Rajiv Mehrishi assumed the office of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India (September 25, 2017) at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He took over this office after the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind administered him the oath of office. Shri Rajiv Mehrishi will have a tenure till August 7, 2020.

Shri Mehrishi belongs to the 1978 batch of Indian Administrative Service (Rajasthan Cadre). Shri Rajiv Mehrishi has wide experience in the fields of Public Administration, Financial Management and Infrastructure Development. He served as Union Home Secretary from August 2015 for two years before joining this constitutional post. Prior to this, he has served as Finance Secretary and, before that as Secretary, Fertilizers and Secretary, Overseas Indian Affairs in Government of India. At the State level, Shri Mehrishi served as Chief Secretary in Government of Rajasthan. He has also worked as Principal Secretary, Finance & Planning, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Government of Rajasthan.  Shri Mehrishi did his Graduation and Post-Graduation from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and MBA from Strathclyde Business School, Glasgow, UK.
