The Accelerating Justice Delivery (AJD) Project is inviting applications from emerging litigation professionals for the role of Project Consultant, offering a unique opportunity to engage with a high-impact initiative focused on addressing systemic delays in the justice delivery process in India. The role involves close interaction with leading jurists, policy stakeholders, and international experts, and contributes directly to the development of reform-oriented outputs aimed at strengthening the efficiency and responsiveness of judicial systems.

About the Project

The Accelerating Justice Delivery (AJD) Project is a high-impact initiative aimed at examining the causes of judicial delays and case pendency in India and comparable jurisdictions, and developing practical, data-driven reform solutions.

The project is funded by the International Bar Association and is being implemented through the IBA Asia Pacific Forum and Bar Issues Commission.

Position Details

  • Role: Project Consultant

  • Location: New Delhi/NCR

  • Duration: 6 to 12 months

  • Nature of Engagement: Consultancy

Role Overview

The selected consultant will play a central role in shaping a comprehensive reform framework and key project outputs, including:

  • Coordinating with the IBA India Working Group and project stakeholders

  • Conducting interviews with leading jurists, judges, and contributors

  • Managing project communications and deliverables

  • Assisting in the preparation of:

    ○ Initial Report (target: July 2026)

    ○ Reform Handbook

    ○ Final Project Report and White Paper for key stakeholders, including the Law Minister and the Chief Justice of India

Eligibility Criteria

  • Advocate enrolled with the Bar Council of India

  • 1 to 3 years’ PQE in litigation (preferably original side practice)

  • Experience in socio-legal research or empirical analysis

  • Strong English communication and drafting skills

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel across India

  • Ability to work closely with international legal experts
