About Judicata, the NLIU Law Podcast

Judicata was formally launched with the release of its inaugural episode titled “Episode 1 | In Conversation with Prof. Giulio Bartolini”, now available on YouTube and Spotify. The first episode features Professor Giulio Bartolini, Full Professor of International Law at Roma Tre University, Director of its International Humanitarian Law Legal Clinic, Lecturer at the Geneva Academy, and Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook of International Disaster Law.

Drawing on Professor Bartolini’s academic and institutional experience, the episode examines the operation of international law in situations of crisis and armed conflict, engaging with questions concerning the effectiveness of legal norms during emergencies and the role of international law in addressing contemporary global challenges.

Judicata has been conceptualised as a platform to bridge the gap between legal theory and practice by facilitating conversations with professors, advocates, legal professionals, alumni, and students. The initiative seeks to engage with a wide range of themes, including recent legal developments, professional and career trajectories, interdisciplinary perspectives, academic scholarship, student research, and mental health and well-being within legal education.

The podcast functions under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Raka Arya, Faculty-in-Charge of Judicata, who has also served as a member of the 22nd Law Commission of India, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.

Developed and coordinated by a student team, Judicata reflects NLIU’s emphasis on encouraging intellectual inquiry and academic engagement beyond the classroom. By incorporating bilingual content and encouraging diverse voices, the podcast seeks to make legal discourse more inclusive and accessible.

With future episodes planned across multiple areas of law and professional engagement, Judicata: The NLIU Law Podcast aims to serve as a sustained forum for rigorous, thoughtful, and globally relevant legal conversations.
