TNNLU Commercial Trial Advocacy Competition 2025

ABOUT TNNLU

Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu through an Act of the State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012) to provide high-quality legal education. The primary goals of TNNLU include enhancing knowledge of the law, legal systems, and their role in promoting national development. Students and research scholars are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility to serve society by improving their skills in advocacy, legal services, legislation, law reform, and related areas. To promote legal education and make law and the legal system effective tools for social progress, TNNLU organizes lectures, seminars, symposia, and conferences. In addition to conducting exams, awarding degrees, and granting academic distinctions, TNNLU also undertakes any activities that are incidental, necessary, or beneficial in achieving the University’s objectives.

ABOUT TRIAL ADVOCACY COMMITTEE

The Trial Advocacy Committee, established in 2019, was created to deepen students’ understanding of criminal law and the intricacies of trial procedures while preparing them for the rigors of Inter-University and Intra-University Trial Advocacy and Mock Trial Competitions. The committee serves as a platform to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, ensuring aspiring legal professionals are well-equipped for real-world challenges.

At the core of its activities are the Intra-University Trial Advocacy Competitions, which provide students an opportunity to hone their skills in legal reasoning, strategic articulation, and courtroom dynamics. Additionally, the committee organizes workshops featuring legal experts who share valuable insights into trial advocacy, enabling students to transition seamlessly from academic study to practical application. The committee also conducts Inter-University competitions, fostering collaboration and competition with other institutions while promoting the art of trial advocacy on a broader scale
