Supreme Court Bar Association proposes LIC Group Term Insurance of Rs. 10 lakhs for eligible members- No Premium Required

On 16-9-2025, the Executive Committee of Supreme Court Bar Association proposed to introduce a LIC Group Term Insurance Cover of Rs. 10 lakhs for Supreme Court Bar Association members to provide a uniform protective cover and to strengthen the welfare measures of the Association.

Key Features of the Policy:

  1. It will cover all Supreme Court Bar Association voter members in the last 3 years.

    Exception: Designated Senior advocates and advocates whose gross annual income exceeds Rs. 15 lakhs.

  2. No premium has to be paid.

  3. It will remain valid up to the age of 60 years.

  4. Advocates who wish to remain covered can submit a declaration confirming that their gross annual income is less than Rs. 15 lakhs.

  5. Advocates who do not wish to remain covered under this policy can opt out by submitting a declaration/ opt out form.

  6. Declaration should be made by 25-9-2025 to the Supreme Court Bar Association Office or by sending their names and membership numbers by email to scbaecinfo@gmail.com.

  7. Permanent members, whose income is more than Rs. 15 lakhs or are not voters, can also avail the policy on payment basis by paying an annual premium of Rs. 5500 + applicable taxes.
