Export of Rapid Antigen Test kits banned by DGFT

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued a notification dated August 16, 2021, amending the export policy of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests. The export of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen testing kits has been put under Restricted category, with immediate effect.

Initially, exports of rapid antigen testing kits were allowed without any restrictions. Now, the exporters will require a license from the DGFT for outbound shipments.

The rapid antigen test kits are used to detect the presence of the novel coronavirus and the test kits includes VTM kits, RNA extraction kits, RT-PCR kits and reagents, 15mn falcon tube, beads, probes (specific for Covid-19 testing), and reverse transcriptase enzymes.
