Symbiosis Law School NOIDA wins 8th ILNU National Moot Court Competition 2018

ILNU in association with Competition Commission of India (CCI) organized ILNU-CCI National Moot Court Competition 2018 to promote and sustain an enabling competition culture in the country.

ILNU was also associated with Gaggar and Partners, one of the most renowned law firms of the country in the field of Competition Law, as organizing partners of the competition, Privy Legal Services as the Alumni Partner with SCC Online and Eastern Book Company as the Exclusive Official Knowledge Partner of the Competition. Further, the entire moot was covered on the SCC Online blog as the official Media Partner and Practical Lawyer as the Magazine Partner for the competition.

A research workshop was also organised for the participants and was conducted by Mr. Chetan Singh Gill from SCC Online. The session was quite informative, and the participants responded with quite zeal and enthusiasm.

In the said Moot Court Competition each team had to face two preliminary rounds, 8 teams qualified for the Quarters, 4 for the Semi-Final rounds and finally 2 teams competed in the Finals.

The problem was drafted by Mr. Rishabh Sancheti, Advocate Supreme Court of India. The judges for the Preliminary Rounds were Associates from various Law Firms in Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad few of them being from Jyoti Sagar and Associates, Vaish Associates, Advaita legal, Privy Legal, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas.

The judges for the final rounds were Mr. Rahul Singh (Competition Law Faculty, NLSIU). Mr Risabh Sancheti, problem drafter, Mr Abir Roy, Mr P. K Singh (Advisor, Competition Commission of India).

The problem for this edition of the moot was based on Competition Law and Constitutional Law. The prizes were worth Rs. 1.5 lakh and the top two teams were to be awarded 1 month internship at Gaggar and Partners, New Delhi.

The 8th ILNU National Moot Court Competition was a huge success with 24 Law Schools participating.

Runner-up was Sastra University.

Best Speaker was awarded to Deshna Golecha (NMIMS).

Best Researcher was Arshita Bansal (Faculty of Law, Delhi University).

Best Memorial was awarded to NUSRL Ranchi.
