Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, kicked off its 9th Foundation Day celebrations from 22nd September 2025. The week-long event, running through 28th September, promises a diverse array of academic, cultural, and social activities, organized by several student and faculty-driven committees. These include the Student Enrichment Cell, Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell, Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies, Electoral Literacy Club, Centre for Law, Business and Economics, Rotaract Club, Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights, as well as literary initiatives. The celebrations aim to highlight the university’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence, social responsibility, and cultural diversity.
The week features a wide range of activities, including a film screening on Human Rights and Disability, hosted by the Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies, aimed at raising awareness on these critical issues. Additionally, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell will conduct a mediation demonstration, providing participants with insights into effective dispute resolution techniques. The Youth Red Cross will present drama performances for a cause, encouraging social responsibility and community engagement. A Debate Competition, organized by the Student Enrichment Cell, will foster intellectual discourse among students, while the Centre for Law, Business, and Economics will host an Inter-University Commercial Contract Drafting Competition, offering a platform for students to showcase their legal drafting skills.
In the spirit of social responsibility, the Rotaract Club will conduct a Blood Donation Camp to support local healthcare initiatives. The Moot Court Committee will also Demo Moot Court Competition to encourage academic excellence in law. Lastly, a variety of cultural programs will be held, including dance and singing performances, as well as a GI Tagged Fashion Ramp Walk, organized by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights, adding a vibrant and creative touch to the celebrations. Additionally, various cultural and literary events like Sur Tarang, Mehfil e Mehndi, Canvas e Khayal, Dance-Drama, Face Painting, and Shaam-e-Shayari will be organized to further enrich the celebration.
This Foundation Day event reflects HPNLU’s ongoing efforts to provide a well-rounded educational experience that emphasizes academic rigor, cultural enrichment, and community engagement.
