COVID-19 | Kar HC | State Govt. to file response in petition for protection, salary payment and statutory benefits to medical practitioners and ASHA workers

Karnataka High Court: A Division Bench of Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, CJ and B.V. Nagarathna, J. while addressing the present petition asked the State Government to file response with regard to two issues:

In the present situation, the first that was raised was with regard to failure to protect the life and limb of registered medical practitioners, workers and Accredited Social Health Activities (ASHA) workers and other accredited and non-accredited health workers. Further point was to not just issue guidelines but stringent actions also to be taken against the offenders.

Another issue was regarding the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the above stated medicare service personnel as well as ASHA workers.

Third issue was to provide salary payment and statutory benefits to the medicare personnel and ASHA workers.

Bench asked for State Government’s response on the first and third issue as some response with regard to second issue was already filed same.

Th response needs to be filed by 09-04-2020 when the said group petition would be heard. [Dr Rajeev Ramesh Gothe v. State of Karnataka,  2020 SCC OnLine Kar 426 , decided on 07-04-2020]
