Call for Papers: NUJS Law Review: Special Issue: Submit by Jan 28

The NUJS Law Review is pleased to invite submissions for its forthcoming Special Issue dedicated to the judgment of the Supreme Court of India in Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India, (2018) 1 SCC 791.

The NUJS Law Review is the flagship journal of the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.

Over the years, the NUJS Law Review has provided legal analysis and commentary on a range of issues, and in doing so has invited academics, policy makers, law students, practitioners, and those interested in legal studies to contribute towards the journal.

Theme of the Special Issue

In an attempt to engender a culture of serious academic engagement on the contemporary issue of decriminalization of consensual same sex interactions under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, the Board of Editors invites submissions for its forthcoming Special Issue on Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India, (2018) 1 SCC 791.

Guidelines for Submissions

We have no restriction as to sub themes which may be covered in a submission, aside from the subject matter having relevance to the Navtej Singh Johar judgement and the broader discourse on Section 377 of IPC.

Please note the following details in relation to the submissions:

  1. All contributions submitted to the NUJS Law Review should be original and should not be simultaneously considered for publication elsewhere.
  2. All sources must be adequately acknowledged. Any instances of plagiarism will disqualify a submission from consideration.
  3. We shall be accepting articles above 6,000 words, exclusive of footnotes and notes between 4000 words and 6000 words, exclusive of footnotes.
  4. Submissions must contain an abstract of not more than 200 words.
  5. Submissions must be analytical in nature and not merely descriptive. Submissions providing a fresh perspective on relevant issues will be appreciated.
  6. Referencing and citations must be in conformity with the NUJS Law Review Citation and Style Standard.
  7. Authors must indicate their academic qualifications including the degrees completed and the name of the university/institution to which they are affiliated in their cover letter.
  8. Co-authoring of papers among individuals of the same or different institutions is permissible. Co-authorship among more than two authors shall be permitted, subject to advance notice and approval by the Editorial Board.

Submission Deadline

The deadline for submission for the Special Issue is January 28, 2019, 11:59 pm.

Submission Procedure

All submissions must be made through the Submit Article option on our website. We do not accept any hard copy submissions.
