The Permanent Campus of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam was inaugurated on 25th of March, 2017 by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Shri Sarbananda Sonowal in the august presence of Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court Justice J. Chelameshwar, Justice Sharad A. Bobde, Justice Abhay M. Sapre and Justice Amitava Roy, along with Chief Justice of Gauhati High Hon’ble Justice Ajit Singh and Hon’ble Justice Hrishikesh Roy, Judge Court of the Gauhati High Court. Shri V. K. Pipersenia, the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam also graced the event.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam in his speech said that the University will be a giant leap forward in terms of our justice delivery system, higher education and overall development program. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Patil then passed on his motto to the students and a message to all that in the course of our journey, we shall be identified as a center of legality for the north east at its core and nationalism at its rim and globalism at its cosmic level.
