About the Institution

B.M.S. College of Law was established in 1963 by Sri. B.S. Narayan, Donor Trustee, BMSET, under the aegis of B.M. Sreenivasaiah Educational Trust. The institution is affiliated with Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi and is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. The College offers B.A., LL.B., B.B.A., LL.B., B.Com., LL.B. and LL.B. (3-Year Degree) courses. The Institution is accredited with a B++ Ranking by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

To impart quality legal education, the College provides quality infrastructure with a highly qualified and dedicated faculty committed to providing a world-class learning experience. Eminent alumni of BMSCL form a strong professional network and work tirelessly to contribute to the institution. Apart from imparting legal education through the prescribed syllabus, the College promotes legal awareness on contemporary issues including intellectual property rights, consumer welfare schemes, and women’s rights among the general public through activities and programs undertaken by various cells and committees.

About the Competition

The Moot Court Society, B.M.S. College of Law, organises the prestigious B.M. Sreenivasaiah Memorial Moot Court Competition annually. To continue this legacy, the College is organising the 11th B.M. Sreenivasaiah Memorial Moot Court Competition from 17 to 19 April 2026 to provide a platform for law students nation-wide to hone their research, drafting and interfacing skills in a competitive yet friendly environment.

The institution has a rich history of promoting experiential learning activities and organises the annual Moot Court Competition to promote essential skills such as research, drafting and interfacing. In this 11th edition of the Competition, the proposition reflects real-life developments in the field of Constitutional Law, focusing on topics such as cooperative federalism and the freedom of expression. The proposition tests the critical thinking, research aptitude and observatory skills of participants. It provides a platform for passionate law students to involve themselves in intellectual discourse, as well as being an excellent networking opportunity.

The 11th B.M. Sreenivasaiah Memorial Moot Court Competition is being conducted in collaboration with Singhania & Partners LLP, SCC Online (Knowledge Partner), and SCC Times (Media Partner). The participants will have the opportunity to interact and network with legal luminaries from across the country and, in turn, contribute to the reputation and excellence of their respective institutions.

Eligibility

All law students currently enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year LL. B Course from any recognized College / Institution / University.

  • Commencement of registration – 05/02/2026.

  • Last date for receipt of provisional registration – 21/02/2026.

  • Last date for final registration and payment of fees – 05/03/2026.

  • Last date for seeking clarifications – 06/03/2026.

  • Release of clarification — 09/03/2026.

  • Last date for the memorial submission (soft copy) – 22/03/2026.

  • Last date for the memorial submission (hard copy) – 30/03/2026.

  • Researchers Test – 17 April 2026.

  • Oral Rounds – 18 and 19 April 2026.

Prizes and Awards

  • Winners – Cash Prize of ₹50,000 with trophy, certificate, 3 one-year subscriptions to SCC Online Web Edition worth Rs. 96,000 and internship opportunity with Singhania & Partners, LLP.

  • Runners’ up – Cash Prize of ₹40,000 + Trophy + Certificate.

  • Best Orator Female – A cash prize of ₹10,000, along with a trophy and a certificate.

  • Best Orator Male – A cash prize of ₹10,000, along with a trophy and a certificate.

  • Best Researcher – A cash prize of ₹10,000, along with a trophy and a certificate.

  • Best Written Submission (Petitioner) – A cash prize of ₹10,000, along with a trophy and a certificate.

  • Best Written Submission (Respondent) – A cash prize of ₹10,000, along with a trophy and a certificate.

All participants will be awarded one month access to the SCC Online Web Edition valued at ₹3,100.

The registration fee is ₹4,000 (without accommodation) and ₹8,000 (with accommodation; applicable only to outstation participants).
