GNLU announces Certificate Course on Multilateralism at Work

GNLU Centre for Foreign Policy and Security Studies is pleased to offer three day Certificate Course on “Multilateralism at Work”, from 26th – 28th September, 2018 at Gujarat National Law University. The objective of the course will be to understand the nature and functioning of multilateralism with a case study approach. The case studies will relate to:

  1. Expansion of UNSC permanent membership and India’s efforts at becoming a permanent member
  2. The formation of G-4 as a group for permanent membership of the UN, its logic and limitations
  3. The formation of BRICS as a grouping and the opportunities and challenges for this group
  4. India’s view of the NPT, and the diplomacy relating to our nuclear posture
  5. India’s approach to issue of Terrorism in the UN, and efforts at Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT)
  6. India’s approach to membership of International Criminal Court (ICC)
  7. Responsibility to Protect ( R2P) doctrine

Resource person of the course: Ambassador B. S. Prakash

Brief introduction: His Excellency Ambassador B. S. Prakash, a career diplomat has a degree in Physics, a MA in Philosophy and M.Phil in international relations. After thirty eight years in the Indian Foreign Service, he completed his career as India’s Ambassador in Brazil. His earlier postings include Germany, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Sri Lanka, Uganda and the US in different capacities. He was India’s alternative representative to the IAEA in Vienna, Head of the UN division in the Ministry of External Affairs, and a member of the Indian delegations to UN, NAM, G-77, BRICS and IBSA conferences.  Currently Amb Prakash has been engaged in academia as a visiting Professor, researcher and writer.

Duration of course: 14 hours

Fees: Rs. 2000/- (Registration Fee for External Students)

         Rs. 1500/- (Registration Fee for GNLU students)
