Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur was established by the Government of Maharashtra by way of enactment known as the Maharashtra National Law University Act (Maharashtra Act No. VI of 2014).

The university is presently offering B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Five Year Integrated Degree Course, B.A.LL.B. (Hons. in Adjudication and Justicing) Five-Year Integrated Degree Course, B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Years Integrated Degree Course, LL.M. One-Year Postgraduate Degree Course and Ph.D. in interface with the law and legal issues, besides Diploma and Certificate Courses. While it has strong student-centric goals, it also focuses extensively on the all-round development of its bright and diligent faculty members, motivating them to attain new heights.

About the Competition

The University presents to you the second edition of the National Moot Court Competition, which is the 2nd MNLU, Nagpur National Moot Court Competition, 2023. This year, the Competition shall take place in the physical mode with the participation of various teams from different law schools across the nation.

This year, the Competition entails a memorial selection round, during which memorials would be checked twice for each representing side and the top twenty selected teams will proceed towards the next rounds and will get a chance to participate in the enthralling oral rounds at the best-in-class campus of MNLU, Nagpur before highly eminent scholars, advocates, and judges.

The theme of the Competition is an intersection between technology law, criminal law, and constitutional law, which was selected in an effort to brew an enigmatic discussion about the newly developing field of law.

Eligibility

Participating members of the teams must be undergraduate students pursuing a three-year or five-year integrated law degree from any institution recognised by the BCI. Only one (1) team can register from a particular College or Institution for participating in the Competition. Students from different Colleges/Institutions are not allowed to form an Inter-College team.

Team Composition

A team shall consist of three (3) members, i.e., two speakers and one researcher. The roles of the participants shall be the same throughout the competition.

Registration

Provisional Registration

Universities interested to reserve a slot for their team can provisionally register their university with the Organizer through the given online form HERE. Provisional Registration can be done till December 20, 2022.

Team Registration of Universities

All teams are required to register for Stage 1, i.e., Memorial Evaluation Rounds, 2nd MNLU, Nagpur NMCC, 2023 on or before December 25, 2022, via the online registration form as provided HERE.

Interested teams have to pay a registration fee of INR 2,500/- for Memorial Evaluation Rounds, via online bank transfer, the details of which shall be intimated to the registering universities post provisional registration. The receipt of the online bank transfer must be attached to the Registration form itself.

The teams qualifying for Stage 2 i.e., Oral Rounds shall be further required to pay a registration fee of INR 3,500/-, the details of which shall be intimated to the qualifying teams in due time.

General Instructions

Successfully registered teams will be allotted team codes through their respective emails. Apart from the Team Code, teams are requested not to display or add the names or logos of their Institution anywhere in any communication(s) addressed to the Organizers, or in memorials/material submitted for the Competition. Non-compliance with rules shall result in a penalty.

  • Winning Team: Cash prize of INR 21,000/- along with a Trophy and a Certificate of Merit

  • Runners-Up Team:Cash prize of INR 15,000/- along with a Trophy and a Certificate of Merit

  • Best Memorial:Cash prize of INR 7,000/- along with a Trophy and a Certificate of Merit.

  • Best Speaker:Cash Prize of INR 7,000/- along with a Trophy and a Certificate of Merit.

  • Best Researcher:Cash Prize of INR 7,000/- along with a Trophy and a Certificate of Merit.

  • Certificate of Merit shall be given to all the Teams qualifying for the advanced rounds.
