The Legal Aid & Awareness Committee of National Law University Jodhpur [“LAAC”] is an organisation which was established to provide legal aid and awareness on basic legal rights and give remedies to the people. We are led by the objective that it is the duty of law students to advocate for individuals who are marginalised, victimised, and underrepresented, especially when they can empower the poor and deliver justice to those who are unaware of the legal system’s rigours.

Over the course of the past few years, LAAC has been diligently working towards making the Right to Education [“RTE”] a concrete reality. One of the Committee’s major projects is ‘Milkar Karein RTE ko Sarthak’ competition which aims to bolster the impact of the beneficiary provision of Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act which provides for reservation of 25% seats in the private schools to actualize the idea of universal education.

In furtherance of this initiative, the Committee is organizing an event to gauge the state of implementation of the RTE Act, 2009 across different regions in the nation by engaging legal aid cells, centers or committees of various law schools. This shall be in the form of a paper presentation series and panel discussions, in the form of a 5-day event will be conducted from 26th September 2022 to 30th September 2022.

The Committee is organising a three to four day Seminar on “Assessing the Implementation of the RTE Act, 2009”. The discussion series will include paper submissions by the legal aid cells/centres/committees of the participating universities and a presentation on the state of RTE in their respective region.
