The Confederation of Alumni For National Law Universities (CAN Foundation) is proud to present the E-brochure for the 2nd Justice HR Khanna Memorial National Symposium to be held on 3rd July 2022. The eventful date couldn’t have been a more fortuitous one as it also marks 110th birth anniversary of one of the greatest titans of the legal field in our country, Late Justice HR Khanna, best known for his dissenting judgment in the case of ADM, Jabalpur v. Shivakant Shukla, (1976) 2 SCC 521, also popularly known as the Habeas Corpus case, which came up for hearing in front of the Supreme Court in December 1975. During the dark hours of the Emergency in India, Justice Khanna’s dissent came up as a ray of light and hope. The legacy of Justice Khanna is best preserved by following in his footsteps of careful constitutional reasoning and deliberation, thereby keeping the spirit of justice alive.
