About the Organization

Society for Young Advocates and Researchers (SYAR India) intends to connect young lawyers, law students and researchers on a platform wherein they guide young talents to excel in the field of law. SYAR is helping to educate law students and young lawyers to learn in the most effective manner by improving their skills. SYAR India is dedicated to expand and connect legal fraternity for a common cause through the most enlightening experience and boost their career like never before.

 

The Mediation & Negotiation Competition

Society for Young Advocates and Researchers has been trying to push the limits to educate the upcoming generation of legal professionals to comprehend the value of the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism in this fast-paced era. SYAR presents with an opportunity for the law students to hone their skills in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution and build requisite skills required to be a good mediator or a negotiator.

Our third edition is aimed at imparting knowledge and helping students learn requisite skills under the guidance of professional mediators, who are renowned and have a vast experience in the field. Today, Alternative Dispute Resolution is emerging and we are sure that this competition will add to your learning and will help you in the professional phase of life.

The First Edition of the Competition was won by Christ University, Bangalore and Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai were the Runner-Ups. The Second Edition of the Competition was won by Government Law College, Mumbai and Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar being the Runner-Ups this time.

 

Eligibility and fee details

Each Participant must be a current law student, enrolled bonafide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate LL.B. Degree Course or its equivalent conducted by any recognized institute. A recognized institution shall be entitled to send only two teams to the competition. The registration fee for the competition is set at INR 3000.

 

Team Composition

A team shall consist of 3 participants who shall act as a “Client”, “Attorney” and “Mediator”.

Training Sessions for Participants

The Competition will also provide an opportunity for the participants to develop the requisite mediation and negotiation skills through various training sessions conducted by industry professionals.

  • Best Mediator
  • Runner up Mediator
  • Best Team in Preliminary Round

Prize includes an internship with CAMP Mediation, cash awards upto INR 30,000.

Participants would also be entitled to discounts on Mediation courses conducted by CAMP Mediation.
